青春閃退的前中年焦慮，光怪陸離的後夢想亂象
《XY事件簿》為王靖惇2017-2018在臺中國家歌劇院的駐館創作。以被稱為草莓族、崩世代、N世代的七年級生為切入點，探討當代臺灣社會的荒謬。王靖惇試著以幽默但怪誕的方式，書寫前中年、後青春的一群人，在青春閃退中如何既期待又怕受傷地面對世界的荒謬亂象。《XY事件簿》中有堅持不懈追求夢想的歌手、沉溺於虛擬世界的軟體工程師、飽受老闆壓榨試圖反抗的OL以及迷戀SM的退休商業大老。王靖惇以冷調戲謔的筆法、引人發噱的對白，帶出生活中一樁樁荒謬卻真實的事件，反思當代台灣所面臨的世代困境。

Daniel Wang creates The XY Files as the artist in residence at National Taichung Theater for their season of 2017/2018. This piece takes people who were born between 1981-1991 as the focus to explore the absurdity of contemporary Taiwan. This group of people is often called strawberry generation, working poor, or generation N. Daniel Wang takes on a humorous yet dark angle to write about this group of people who are pre-middle-aged and in late-puberty. He writes about their expectations and their depressions when faced with absurdities of this world in their fast passing youth. In The XY Files, there is a persistent dream-pursuing singer, a software engineer emerged in virtual world, a revolting OL exploited by her boss, and a retired business tycoon indulging SM plays. To reflect on generational dilemmas of modern Taiwan, Daniel Wang uses a cold and joking tone and laughable conversations to depict one after another unbelievable but truthful incidents.
